Virgin of San Lorenzo
Valladolid comes alive every year with its celebrations of the Virgen de San Lorenzo, a huge festivity that fills the city with music, gastronomy, folklore, children's activities, theater, street parties, the national fireworks competition, the grand commercial exhibition known as the International Trade Fair, and the International Ceramic and Pottery Fair.
The Plaza Mayor hosts concerts, always free of charge, featuring top national and international artists. The stage has welcomed John Newman (2016), Primal Scream (2017), Gloria Gaynor, Franz Ferdinand (both in 2019), The Hives, and Jason Derulo (both in 2022) .
The tradition of tapas reaches its peak during these days with the Day Fair, which brings together around a hundred bars in the main squares of the city. The refreshing drink known as 'lorencito' is a must-try. During this time, it is possible to travel through Spain via its cuisine thanks to the Gastronomy and Folklore Fair, a showcase of regional food at the Fairground.
An interesting event in the program is Valladolid's encounter with the Guinness Book of Records: for over a decade, the city has sought - and achieved - its place in this 'book of fame'.
