"Lo profundo es el aire" (The Deep is the Air)

One of these pieces can be seen on Cadenas de San Gregorio Street, facing the Villena Palace and framed by the historic wall of the San Pablo Convent.
The artwork was inaugurated in November 1982 in the presence of Chillida himself.
It is a sculpture that measures 3.5 meters in length and 1.5 meters in height, made of steel. The artist decided at the last minute to discard the concrete structures he had already made. As he confessed, as reported by El País, "because with this new sculpture, the depth will be in the environment, in the immense stone wall that will surround the steel structure (referring to the San Pablo Church); it will be a vertical depth."
