CWB - Historia del festival

The International Festival of Theatre and Arts of Street de Valladolid has developed throughout the twentieth edition, a program according to the following criteria:

  • There are a number of artistic expressions that suffocate in theaters and tend to go through their walls and locate themselves where the individual builds his daily life.
  • That these expressions speak of our time and use communication tools in the way of multimedia, mixing image with music, painting, theater...
  • That this use of means causes the structure of operation operating structure to change, from a narrative to an associative structure (in each show something is suggested, and it is the public itself that develops an idea and gives it form and content).
  • That circus has been one of the oldest forms of intervention in public spaces and today has become the mother that welcomes multidisciplinary artists giving a new meaning to the tent and the works that inside or outside it are developed.
  • That we understand the street not as an open space between buildings, but as an open or closed place where citizens build their daily life and where these kinds of manifestations are located.
  • That we understand art as the possibility of being able to disassemble the real world and reassemble it from a higher dimension.
  • That we are against it anything goes walking towards the works selection consistent with the mentioned above.
  • We understand the festival as a single show and not as a sequence of work until we complete the planned economical budget.
  • We understand the festival also as a showcase for works that are either in the process of growing or because of their research nature are outside the commercial circuits.
  • That it is very important to have a continuous feedback on the progress and development of the festival, so we have always had international jury made up of people not only from the theatrical world with a theatrical background but with an open attitude of listening to any artistic manifestation.

That we are in the XX edition and that you will always be welcome!
