Palace of the Archbishop

Of notable interest are the 32 capitals each richly decorated in renaissance style

Palacio Arzobispal A 16th century construction also known as the Palace of the Marchis of Villasante, the last noble who owned the building. The coat of arms of Luis de la Lastra, the first Archbishop of Valladolid, and of the Queen Isabel II are engraved on the facade, as well as the date when it become the Archbishop's residence (1858). It is flanked by two towers, The main door, made of stone, is semicircular with an elegant plateresque decoration. The interior illustrates the typical classicist distribution of palaces: hallway that gives access to a central courtyard and a staircase. The courtyard has columns in its four sides crowned by renaissance capitals with a rich iconographic language .
